The relevant issue in your case is, how her mother got British citizenship-either she was naturalized or she was born British. If she (the mother) was naturalized then her children can be British national by descent if they are born outside UK. However this can be up to one generation.
In this case, the child is British by birth and can apply for first British passport directly. However daughter’s Nationality would be nationality by descent and she cannot pass on to her Children if they are born outside UK.
Under section 2(1)(a) of the British Nationality Act 1981, a person born outside of the UK on or after 1 January 1983 is a British citizen at birth, if at the time of birth, either parent is a British citizen ‘otherwise than by descent’.
Under section 2(1)(b) of the British Nationality Act 1981, a person born outside of the UK on or after 1 January 1983 is a British citizen at birth if, at the time of birth:
- either parent is a British citizen
