Families already settled in UK won’t have to meet new visa salary thresholds – UK Immigration

The UK Home Secretary said on Wednesday that people who are already living in Britain will not have to meet new salary requirements when they renew their visas.

James Cleverly said that the plans to lower the number of immigrants are “looking forward rather than backward.”

People must earn at least £38,700 a year, which is more than double the current minimum income of £18,700, in order to bring a family member or partner from another country to the UK. The new rules were announced this month.

People who want to come to Britain on Skilled Worker visas will also have to pay the same amount. Right now, they have to earn at least £26,200 a year.

New rules about wages will likely start applying for visas next spring, along with a lot of other changes made by the Home Office. But families said they were left in the dark because the government hadn’t said how the new plan would work or whether the much higher earnings requirement applies to both new applications and refills of visas.

The clever man told LBC, “The ideas we’re putting forward are not looking backward.”

“We will make sure that what we say is clear, because after we made that announcement, the story moved on very quickly.”

“I’m also aware that some people are uncertain and worried right now because they don’t fully understand the proposals that have been made.” I promised to make sure I had a clear explanation of what it meant for people.

He said it would be “okay” for people making less than £38,700 with a family member already living in the UK. This looks ahead instead of backward.”

One British mother of two who helps her Turkish husband come to live in the UK told the Standard that the changes the government is making to visas are “obscene” and will have “severe” effects on families who will have to be split up.

A story says Sunak’s plan to cut 300,000 net migrations might not work. As promised, the government will soon make public all the specifics of the changes to visas.
