Be Fearless

I’ve commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the LORD your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9

Alam mo ba na maraming tao hindi nagtagumpay sa buhay dahil sa takot. Namatay na lang sila na dala dala nila ang mga galing at talino sa hukay. Please don’t leave this life with all the great talents God has put upon you. Fear can murder your dreams. Use your gifts without fear, shine like a diamond and let the world know of what you’re made of. If not, you will live in regret and come to the last part of your life with the question: “What if…?” What if you did it and succeeded? What if you went ahead and won?

There was a woman in the Bible who was bleeding for many years. She spent all her money to doctors and medicines but they did not make her any better, and made her condition worse. Jesus was a superstar in His days because He made miracles, opened blind eyes, made cripple walk, brought dead back to life. Then this woman heard that Jesus was passing by in her village. Noong panahong iyon, ang mga babae na nagdudugo ay pinandidirian ng mga tao. She made that decision that: “This is my moment. This is my time.” She made that decision that whatever people say, despite of her weakness and bad smell, she would touch Jesus. She did and got the healing she was longing for. She was fearless despite of imminent rejection of men.

If you have a dream, pursue it with all your might. Never allow others to stop you to becoming what God has made you to be. Protect your dreams. Feel the fear but do it anyway. They say that: “pain is temporary but glory is forever.” Yes you may suffer setbacks and failures but those are just part and parcel of success. How would you know the outcome if you will never try? There will be times that people will question your credibility and remind you to be ‘realistic’ and why you cannot make it. Keep going and be fearless. David said: “even though I walk through the valleys of the shadows of death, I am not afraid because I know God is with me.” Remind yourself that the Lord is with you and He said: “I will be with you until the end of time…”

In the Old Testament, David was told by his brother Eliab and King Saul why he had no chance to defeat Goliath. They laughed at him. But David asked other soldiers and was told of the rewards if he can defeat the gigantic enemy. The prize of succeeding awaken David’s desire to become someone great. He was anointed by prophet Samuel to replace King Saul. David never knew that him being fearless to kill a giant will catapult him to become the most-loved king of Israel of all time.

It is when you decide to be fearless, forces of darkness back down. You are the next king David to the throne.

– Don Magsino

When you are fearless, it does not mean you should be relying upon your own strength but it means asking God to be with you. When I finished my college, I worked as a postman or messenger – to bring posts to different offices. Due to my poor communication, my first boss told me that I could not make it in life because my tongue was short and could not pronounce well enough to be understood. But I remind myself of what God said to Joshua, “be not afraid because I will be with you wherever you go.” I did not believe my boss because I know who I am and I know what I can do. I enrolled in a school of law and now I am a trial attorney, speaking to different judges and opponents in the court of law, fighting for the human rights of the many. I have also become a regular speaker to empower people. Like what I am telling you now, I have developed the art of being fearless because I realised that no good thing will happen if I am fearful.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

Alam mo ba na ang malalakas na hangin at panahon ay sinasabing “friends of great sailors.” Hindi sila natatakot sa malalakas na daluyong because they understood the principles on how to ride with the waves and to go with the flow of the wind.

The eagles are not scared because of the upcoming storms. They just anticipate the strong breeze of the wind, spread their wings and fly against the current of the wind which takes them higher. In the same way, we are not exempted to life’s troubles, so do not be afraid to face adversities. The objective of life is not to avoid death but to find your purpose of what you are here on earth for. When you found it, be brave to become who God created you to be and be the best version of yourself. You are created to succeed. Be bold.

Like the bleeding woman for many years, like David who was a young boy and without experience in actual battlefield, but they have decided to be fearless despite people do not believe and like them, They have focused on the outcome – their efforts paid off. It’s all worth it in the end. Pursue your dreams when you know that the reward is so immense.
