Repentance is essential to the forgiveness of sins

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, when my ·fellow believer [brother (or sister)] sins against me, how many times ·must [should] I forgive him?  – Matthew 18:21

Jesus says that church members should forgive each other “seventy times seven times” (18:22), a number that symbolizes boundlessness. However, even though Jesus preaches boundless forgiveness, he does not seem to indicate whether that forgiveness has conditions. “The author of the Gospel of Luke repeats the same story, but adds a condition to forgiveness, stating that church members must forgive boundlessly “if there is repentance” (17:3).

Repentance or sincere admission of guilt is key to forgiveness. We may have done something we don’t really mean to but we have done it. Let me encourage you today that you can ask God’s loving forgiveness and admit that we have sinned against God or others. He even teaches us to forgive so we are also forgiven. Whatever we do to others, God will do it to us. Release others from the bondage of fear and hatred and God will release you as well. Repentance is essential to forgiveness.

The Lord loves you so much and He wants you live in perfect harmony with His holiness.

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you forgive others and the Lord forgives you. May you develop a passion to practice the principles of His truth.
