Always Begin With The End In Mind

When John F. Kennedy (JFK), made a  “Moon speech”  on September 12, 1962, he explained what his vision was:

We choose to go to the moon in this decade.
He also said why?
because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills.
On July 20, 1969, John F. Kennedy’s vision came true, and Neil Armstrong, a NASA astronaut stepped onto the Moon and erected the USA flag for the first time!

On conflicts
I will use a different example below to make a point to you.  “I told you before that you will always have troubles in this world,” Jesus said. Did you notice that once your one problem is solved, there is another one coming up? It is good to the movie to see Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee fighting their enemies one by one, but not in real life: many times, problems come all in one go! Life is sometimes unfair, and a tragedy or heartaches come unwelcomed. Di mo alam kelan sila darating.
If you feel abandoned, cheated and betrayed, it may have been that you no longer see the bigger picture of life. I am saying this because you must have lost sight of what really matters. Your normal reaction is only one thing, revenge! This is called your ‘default position’ which is normal in the animal kingdom too.
But let me ask you this, will getting back with that person who left you makes you feel better? Maybe at the beginning, you may tend to reconcile or reunite or amend but at worst, both of you will come to a point where you say: “enough is enough.” Because you will fight again on the previous issues. Madalas kase nauulit at nababalikan yung mga dating isyu. If you both are not ready to compromise, your environment will be unhealthy and filled with hostility.
Can you ask yourself, “how do I want to be remembered in handling this conflict?” What is it that matters to me in the next 10 or 20 years of my life? Will I be proud of the way I handled this situation?
On dreams
Are you doing something you really like and really love? If not, better re-assess your life. Because in the next few years, you may regret where you ended up with. There are people who think that getting a high-paying job is everything because it can make them happy. There are many people who are climbing up to the top of the ladder just to realize that it has been leaning against a wrong wall. Meaning, some people could have all the money or achievements they want but realized that it is not what they really want.
This is the beauty of beginning with the end in mind. When you start, you must know (put your hands in your chest) that it is what you want. If you are studying law, ask yourself if you can have the stamina to stand in court proceedings for litigations and representing people? If you are going abroad to work, can you hold the homesickness and the many years, Christmas, birthday, and New Years, you may not see your loved ones? Because having a dream is not for faint-hearted.
If you do have a dream, think about the glory of achieving it. I was listening to a gym radio who said: “you cannot get the butt you wanted, by sitting on it!” I want you to dream big, not small ones. Choose the moon just like JFK did. If you fail to get to the moon, you still have the stars. Reach for your stars and think about that very first word from the NASA astronauts, “We have just landed!” The world is filled with losers and whiners. Let us fill the earth with the rainmakers and the winners, who can make this world a better place to live.
