In God We Trust

May isang napakayaman tao sa America na nagsabi: “Every time I see coins on the street, I stop to pick them up, regardless of its face value. I do that because it reminds me of that phrase: “In God We Trust.”

When you understand the characters of God, you will trust Him more, and it will cast out all fears. He said He loves you and He cares about you, you are the apple of His eyes, and He knows even before you were born. He even knows the count of your hair! He said He would never, never, never leave you or forsake you. He died for you and me. While on the cross, He stretched his arms so wide saying:

I love you this much. I rather die than to live without you.

Minsan hindi natin naiisip ang mga kabutihan ginawa ng Diyos. Madalas nakikita lang natin ang mga problema at mga alalahanin without an appreciation of the good things, He has done. Have we ever thank God for our family? for our health? for our digestive system which is functioning properly? our five senses? Imagine you loss the sense of hearing: nabingi ka – you will never hear the sound of music and the chirping birds. Or nawalan ka ng paningin? – you will want never the see the beauty of your surroundings, the red roses and the vibrant colors of the rainbow. Or nawalan ka ng sense of smell? – di mo na malalanghap ang bango ng mga bulaklak? Or nawalan ka ng sense of taste? – na kahit anong sarap ng ulam di mo na nalalasahan!

When I was really hurting, I prayed to the LordHe answered my prayer, and took my worries away.

Sa Diyos lang tayo makakaasa. We cannot rely too much on people as their promises are designed to be broken. We cannot count on ourselves as we tend to have poor judgment and can be swayed by what we feel. Only God can see the bigger picture of our lives. Let Him direct us to the right path.

When we trust God, it means we are putting our full confidence in Him, the Creator of the universe, the Master Planner of our lives. Proverbs 3:5 is clear: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Then in Psalms 37:5: “Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.”

When I was a child, there was a song:

It’s an easy thing to do,
When you have someone who believes in you

God can only be God when we have faith in Him. Jesus left Nazareth because they did not acknowledge Him. He went to Capernaum where He performed many miracles. God’s passion is our faith, our belief system that He can do things for us.

Also, I remember that song when I was a child in Sunday School; we keep singing a song: “I cast all my cares upon You. I lay all of my burdens down at Your feet. Every time I don’t know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon You…”

To Him alone, we can rely on. To Him alone, we can put our trust.
