Sapagka’t ang salita ng krus ay kamangmangan sa kanila na nangapapahamak; nguni’t ito’y kapangyarihan ng Dios sa atin na nangaliligtas. –1 Mga Taga-Corinto 1:18
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Kahanga-hanga na yaong lugar kung saan brutal na pinatay si Jesus ay naging tagumpay para sa ating mga believers! The cross has become a beautiful symbol in art, jewelry, and decorations.
Noong unang panahon, ang krus ay itinuring na isang tool of torture, a death sentence. Mas pinili ito ng Roma upang pumatay. Sinoman ang makakita ng pagpatay ay hindi kelanman mangangahas na lumaban sa Roman Empire. Ngunit sa mga taga-sunod ni Jesus ay naging simbolo ng kanilang pagsamba sa Diyos ang krus – ngunit katangahan para sa mga nangapapahamak!
Inaresto si Jesus, dinakip at ipinako sa krus ng Kalbaryo. Ngunit, sinabi ni Jesus in John 10:18, na walang sinuman makakakuha ng buhay Niya sa Kanya. He chose to lay it down!
More than a symbol, ang krus ay ating source ng tagumpay natin! The message of the cross is the power of God to those of us who are being saved.
