Aminin man natin at hindi, pero ang talagang totoo, madalas ang marami gusto mag-alaga sa matatanda kase nagbabaka sakali na may maibibigay. Konte na kase ngayon ang bukal sa kanilang kalooban na mag-alaga talaga. Yung iba, which is understable, nag-aalaga kase may matatanggap. Kase syempre may mga pangangailangan din sila.
Proverbs 10:15 The wealth of the rich is their fortress; the poverty of the poor is their destruction. This is true because pag may pera ka, eh di sandalan or ‘fortress’ mo ang kayamanan. Kaya ang mga mayayaman hindi natatakot magkasakit. Kase meron sila ibabayad sa doktor at hospital. Kaya sinasabi sa Proverbs na: “the wealth of the rich is their fortress.” Kaya madalas yung ibang mayayaman, nasa rocking chair na lang pagsapit ng hapon, sa umaga naman padilig-dilig din ng halamag pag may time.
Eh kung wala kang maibibigay, tama din ang sabi: “the poor’s poverty is their destruction.’ Kaya minsan ang iba, ayaw ng sabihin ang sakit nila kase maaabala pa ang pamilya sa laki ng gastos. Yung iba naman, dahil sa kahirapan, walang gustong mag-alaga kase wala naman mapapala. I am sorry but this is the reality of life. Nagiging kabigatan sila ng ibang tao.
The Bible is implying that we need to gain wealth or at least make ourselves a self-sufficient. Mahalaga ang self-sufficiency, yung kaya mong i-sustain ang iyong lifestyle sa iyong pagtanda.
Isang babala din sa ating mga tumatanda na huwag palaging umasa sa mga anak na tutulong sa iyong pagtanda. Maganda sana kung oo pero paano kung hindi? Paano kung nagbago ang ugali nila or yung napangasawa nila ay hindi maganda ang kalooban sa iyo? We must get ready for that moment of aging. Hindi natin maiitago yan. Kahit sabihin mong “baby face” ka pa, pero ang edad mo talagang iyon na. At sa ating pagtanda, makakaramdam tayo ng iba’t-ibang kirot at pananakit ng katawan. We must afford to buy medicine, pay for hospital bills and medications, check-ups. This quote below is true:
Some people lose their health just to gain wealth, then gradually loses their wealth to pay for their health.
It is a sad fact of life that we will all be growing old and die. In Psalms 71:9 says: “Do not cast me off in times of my old age, do not forsake me when my strength fails” Minsan darating din sa atin ang takot na paano kung sa pagtanda mo wala kang naipon? Or wala kang maipamana sa iyong mga anak? Kase naging busayak tayo sa mga blessings ng Lord?
I always remind people that if you are earning big, you are at your “summer time” sa pagkita. Pero isang araw hihina ang makina ng katawan mo, at ang araw ng buhay ay magiging “sunset”.
In Proverbs 3:13, 14 “Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold.” Maganda din sa atin ang dapat may self-assessment or self-evaluation? Alam dapat natin ang ating patutunguhan. Maganda din dapat ang may self-taught. Yung tayo mismo tinuturuan natin ang ating sarili upang mas maging maganda, maunlad, magaan, masagana ang ating buhay. By teaching ourselves, maganda din ang may self-discipline. Saint Paul said on 1 Corinthians 9:27: “I beat my body and make it my slave…” Kase pag hindi natin hinampas at dinisiplina ang ating sarili, laging gusto nyan ay pasarap sa buhay…maluhong pamumuhay…ubos-ubos biyaya, bukas nakatungnga.
The Bible also ask us humans to look at ants, mga langgam. Buti pa daw yung mga langgam as they are self-motivated. “Which, having no captain, overseer, or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest” (Prov 6:7-8). Kaya kung malakas kang kumita o kahit kokonte ang kita, dapat may motivation ka na mabago ang takbo ng buhay. You cannot rely on others to do it for you. If you will not do it, no one will. Malibang may mga kamag-anak ka or pamilya na super bait at super yaman, no one will put money into your bank account without you doing nothing. Wealth should be worked for. Mas maganda ang yaman mo ay galing sa sikap at tyaga mo. Those ants teach us to look ahead. “Provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest” (Prov 6:8). Pag summer nga naman, sa halip na maglaro kase maganda ang panahon, but they are so busy gathering their stocks in their warehouse for the rainy days. Ang mga langgam ay masisipag, walang alibis or excuses, at ang sabi ng Bible, they are wise!
Dapat meron tayong ganoong klase ng “tenacity” or commitment na parang isang langgam. Kung walang alam sa negosyo, mag-aral. Marami naman ngayon na mga online literatures or studies or distance learning. Or mag part-time sa mga negosyo na gusto mong pasukin. Ganyan ang idea ng OJT (on the job-training) or Apprenticeship. Kase pag umasa ka lang sa iisang source of income, mahirap yan kase baka ma-flat ang tyre mo, wala kang reserba.
Kelangan natin palaguin ang bawat piso na kinikita natin. Paano?

To be honest, I agree with him. Because I would not be able to be rich if I will just rely in working. Most of us, if we do not work, we do not get paid.
I encourage you to gradually get into business or investment mode. Pwede ka mag-invest with reputable banks para kumikita ka ang pera mo kesa nakatago lang sa baul na madalas nanakaw, nahihiram or nauutang. I believe on saying: “Savers are losers.” They also lose money on the inflation – the rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services is rising and, consequently, the purchasing power of currency is falling.
Kahit sa maliit lang na puhunan, magsimula ka sa isang negosyo alam mong kaya mong palaguin. The Bible stated on Zecharaiah 4:10 “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin…” Big things have small beginnings. There are many multi-billionaires now in the Philippines but all have had humble beginnings.
