We sometimes think that we can do simple things without God. Of course, we can do menial tasks on our own, but if we make God a part of our everyday lives, things tend to fall into places, and the difficult task becomes much easier. I encourage you to take God with you in every day of your life.
Noong nasa Maynila ako to attend a college, my family lives in Batangas, and it normally takes four hours to get back home from public transport. Hindi ako nakaipon ng pamasahe enough for me to get home. My bus fare was just enough to get from Manila to our town. I still have to take another transport from the town to get home. I talked to myself, and I said that I could walk from the town to my house which would take me another three hours by foot. The problem was that the bus I was riding arrived our town at about eleven at night. I asked God to bless me and protect me from barking dogs and bad people along the way. In our province, there were no road lights at that time, so the only time I could see my way was when motor vehicles were passing. Nakakatakot dahil maraming aso sa daan at malalim na ang gabi . Napakadilim na. But I asked God to guide me and make me walk faster, so I get home and see my family. At the middle of my walking and this was past midnight, suddenly a big truck stopped and asked me where I was heading, I responded: “Medyo mga dalawang oras pa po eh.” This man driving a gas tanker, asked me: “Iho, halika na, sakay na, ihahatid kita sa inyo.” I felt that God sent him for me to get home safely. I remember the scripture that says: “Be still and know that I am God.” Because I took God with me, He took me home through that man. I am asking you the same to take God with you, wherever you go. He will guide you and protect you and whatever you do will be blessed.
There was a man in the Bible. His name is Moses as he was leading two million Israelites who said: “God, if you don’t go yourself, don’t make us leave…” Moses understood that principle that without the Lord at the front, he will not succeed by himself. This mighty man of faith asked God to go with him.
Jesus said: “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” Very profound. Without God’s favour, we cannot succeed. A leaf could not live on its own unless it is connected to the vine. In the same way, dapat tayo we must be connected to God. Take God with you and remain linked in Him. The Book of Proverbs says: “In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].” In other text, if you acknowledge God, He will crown your effort with success.
I encourage you to have that attitude of gratefulness and thank God for His goodness. Make it your lifestyle to acknowledge God, take Him with you every day. You will see that things will be better and problems will be solved easily. The more we depend on God, the more we bear more fruit. Dependency is not a weakness, but it becomes your strength because you have invited God to be a part of your endeavour. When we ask God for His help, we become more productive.
There was a verse in the Bible that says: “God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.” Then in the book of Jeremiah it is said: “Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.”Imagine that! If we only call and ask God, He will answer and show us those things we never understand. Sa pagdating ng mga panahon, magtataka ang mga tao and they will be amazed how did you get to the position or to a place where you are. That despite of your insignificance, a person of no connection and little education, you have achieved so much. Your secret would be because you relied on God and made Him the first place in your life. Tama ang sabi: “If you seek first.. God, all things shall be added unto you.”
When we acknowledge God, it is a sign of humbleness and not because we are so clingy on God. Don’t be so full of arrogance that you forget to trust the power of God. In the book of Deuteronomy, it is said: “But you shall remember [with profound respect] the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you the power to make wealth…”
Ganoon pala ‘yon. Na ang kayamanan hindi natin nakukuha sa ating sariling lakas but it is God who gives us the ability to make money. Without the Lord giving you the wisdom and capability, you can never have your job and will not be entitled to your pay. Minsan nga, yung iba sa atin, wala namang pinag-aralan or mababa ang pinag-aralan at marami pang mas qualified, pero nasa mataas na position at malaki ang kita. You see, that’s the favour of God that we must understand.
In some of my talks, I bring a telephone device with a cable that connects the handle to the main telephone line. The moment we put the phone down, the line gets available. The problem with some people is they put their phone down so to speak, to God and the line become available to the works of the devil. Let our lines become available and hooked up with God always.
It is very important that we make God a part of our daily lives. Let us not forget Him is everything we do. It doesn’t mean we pray twenty-four hours a day but in our silence, on our own, we can say a little prayer, a little gratitude, thankfulness in our heart. Today, start with a joy and a smile. Take God with you and make him a part of your life every day. If we do, our lives will be much better, more fulfilled and more rewarding. When you have the Lord with you, sabi nga ng isang awit: “When the oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with you above the storm…Father, you are king over the flood…I will be still...” Kapag kasama mo ang Diyos, lumakad ka man sa apoy, di ka masusunog. Dumaan ka man sa tubig, di ka malulunod.
